Continuity
Part 2 of 'An Illusion of Familiarity'
In collaboration with Karen Mabon
Dr Moulin described one particular case study of a female who suffered from chronic deja vu, a condition that causes those affected to continuously feel an overwhelming sensation of deja vu. Moulin identified that the only method that enabled the patient to avoid the distressing illusion of familiarity was the paradox of repeating the same day and experiences over and over again. We have designed and constructed a set for this chronic deja vu sufferer. A sequence of photographs, going from day to night are visual instructions for the case study to reference to aid her in achieving days of continuity. Is such an experience of life sustainable, meaningful and ever possible to fully achieve?
